Only 16 weeks to the start of our cycle ride and I’m behind my training schedule. Excuses all weather related (unexpected snow in the Spring and howling gales which I couldn’t face) and nothing to do with any laziness on my part.
The motivation to get out, was the thought of how difficult the challenge would be if I didn’t get myself back in the saddle. I managed a training ride with several climbs up the Ridgeway (a hill which is a 400ft ascent from our home), a total elevation gain of 1700ft and 28.2 miles. That was enough! I got home and thought about our second day of cycling when we would have to cover more than 90 miles as we travel through Glasgow and a few days later , when we’ll be in the Lake District and will have almost 6000ft of ascent. 16 weeks and counting…
A great effort – just don’t remind me of the ascent we’ll have to do in Scotland!,
